Our first PétNat, and in addition to it's twin Rosa Karašica the first Villányer PétNat ever. It got it's name from the Villány river Karašica. It is Villány's lifeline, it rises in the Mecsek Mountains and absorbs the rainwater from the Villány vineyards before it flows into the Drau in nearby Croatia. It owes the honor of the naming to the crisp phonetics in it's name and it's refreshing and invigorating influence to the Villányer terroir.
PétNat is the short form for Pétillant Naturel and the prototype of all sparkling wines. With this kind of sparkling wine, the history of champagne began, when a residual sweet wine was bottled and finished it's fermentation in the bottle. When these bottles were opened, the wine bubbled in a most pleasant way. One understood the principle and finally transferred it into the traditional bottle fermentation, which was the birth of the champagne. And as so often in modern viticulture, we recognize traditional methods as still or again meaningful and invigorating even today, take them up again, modernize them and get delight in their results.
PétNat contains less CO2 (about 2-2.5 bar) than sparkling wine or champagne (about 5-6 bar) and as it is usually not degorged, still contains it's yeast that has remained in the bottle from fermentation. This is the source of his invigorating freshness and, at the same time, his pleasant creaminess, which has led to it's renaissance in the wine world, especially the world of so-called natural wines, a couple of years ago, because PétNats are usually spontaneously fermented and consist of nothing else than the must of the pressed grapes from which it was pressed.
Our PétNat Karašica 2018 was made from Hárslevelü, spontaneously fermented and bottled without any additives. It consists just of the fermented juice of pressed Hárslevelu grapes. Ripe, juicy fruit, pleasant, invigorating acidity, wonderful umami.
Of the wine 280 bottlets were bottled. The bottles are numbered.

Our PétNat Rosa Karašica 2018 was made from Kékfrankos, spontaneously fermented and bottled without any additives. It consists just of the fermented juice of pressed Kékfrankos grapes. Ripe, juicy fruit, earthy aspects, pleasant, invigorating acidity, wonderful umami.
